Mindfulness means paying attention from the heart, on purpose, in the present moment, with qualities like compassion, curiosity, and acceptance. Mindfulness teaches one how to live in the moment, no matter what is going on in a harmonious way. Mindfulness presents the opportunity to discover your true self and grow in self-knowledge and reduce suffering. Mindfulness is not a quick fix but a lifelong adventure. I invite you to check inside and see if your higher self-desires to learn this health and wellness practice. If so, then let the journey begin and may we set sail on an adventure of a lifetime!

Jan Bio: I
I am a mystic and have studied and practiced a variety of spiritual systems. I am a retired nursing professor. I taught Mental Health, Community & Global, Health, and holistic nursing. I have walked both the academic world of nursing and the world of mysticism with equal depth. I’ve created a bridge between the seen and unseen world that touches psyche, spirit, body, community, the cosmos, and ancestry all at once.
Presently, I teach & practice a synthesis of shamanism and mindfulness meditation. I lead grief rituals, drumming groups, practice Cowry Shell Divination, drum circles and drum and rattle making, home and land clearings, trauma integration, ancestral healing, aromatherapy, death & dying, and an entire curriculum for Mindfulness Meditation & shamanic practitioners. I am drawn to take pilgrimages and study ancient cultures health and spiritual practices like Peru, Egypt, tribal groups, and Scotland

Jan practiced under a traditional African djembe master, and has facilitated many drum circles. The positive effects of group drumming as documented unpublished research include: mood improvement, boost to the immune system, pain reduction, sense of personal accomplishment, increased sense of control over one's life, anger reduction, and stress reduction. Talk to Jan about leading a drum circle for your event, group, or ceremony.

Join our merry group of multi-dimensional journeyers, led by Jan Lucier! Typically, we do 2 journeys: one for personal healing and transformation and one group journey to a “hot spot” on the planet needing healing. Come with an open heart, notebook, and instruments. If you are new to journeying, come 15 minutes early and Jan will share the basics. We are currently meeting at SISU Wellness Center

The west has much to learn from ancient cultures about how to healthfully honor grief and loss. In order to help meet this demand in our personal lives and communities. Jan studied Malidoma Some's Grief Ritual process. Malidoma brings this ancient ritual from the Dagara Tribe who live in Burkina Faso.
